New classification of economic activities

As of April 01, 2025, the new classification of economic activities, ATECO 2025, will be in effect, accommodating evolutions in the business fabric and social changes that have taken place by modifying the activity codes previously provided.

The ATECO classification is a code system used by Istat to classify the economic activities of businesses for statistical and administrative purposes. The ATECO code (which also appears in Chamber of Commerce visas under activity descriptions) is crucial for businesses, as it impacts the granting of grants, subsidies and for participation in tenders.

With this in mind, as of April 1, 2025, the Business Register will adopt the new ISTAT ATECO 2025 classification, in accordance with EU Delegated Regulation 2023/137.

The Chamber of Commerce will update the new ATECO codes in the company's Chamber of Commerce Visura ex officio, and for a transitional period the previous ATECO codes will also be retained in order to facilitate the transition to the new classification.
