Decree Law No. 1 of January 7, 2022, made vaccination for the prevention of SARS-CoV-2 infection mandatory for citizens of Italy and other member states of the European Union residing in the territory of the state, as well as for foreign citizens legally residing in Italy, who have reached the age of fifty, except in ascertained cases of danger to health that must be documented, and therefore attested to by the patient's general practitioner or vaccine doctor. This provision also applies to those who turn 50 years of age after the date of entry into force of this provision (i.e. from January 8, 2022), subject to the deadline of June 15, 2022.
Therefore, as of Feb. 1, 2022, the penalty of 100 euros for those over 50 who have not been vaccinated will be triggered, and the imposition is carried out by the Ministry of Health through the Internal Revenue Service.
The duration of the vaccine Green Pass is reduced from 9 to 6 months.
